I love WordPress. Why? Free software that runs my blog, open source, so many different people can contribute to it by writing various plugins and themes.  My favorite two so far are plugins that allow my blog posts to be shared with the various social network services like Twitter and FaceBook – two of the best methods for getting the word out about your new content to friends / family / colleagues.  Those two plugins are called “AddToAny” and “WP to Twitter

Both were fairly easy to install per the WordPress installation instructions, and after some configuration of authentication with Twitter, I was set!

1. AddToAny – One button to rule them all.

Automatically adds a “share” button to all your website pages and blog posts based on your configuration to help people sharebookmark, and email your posts and pages using any service, such as Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Google, Digg, Delicious, and well over 100 more sharing and social bookmarking sites. New: Google +1 Button in addition to the Facebook Like Button and Twitter Tweet Button.

2. WP to Twitter – One of the best methods I’ve found to automatically tweet about your new blog posts straight to Twitter.  And…with a little bit of work, you can connect your Twitter and Facebook accounts so that once your automated post goes to Twitter, it also automatically goes to FaceBook within minutes.  No more manual posting on your different social networking services that you wrote a new blog post!!

WP to Twitter posts a Twitter status update from your WordPress blog using your URL shortening service to provide a link back to your post from Twitter.

Once again – I love WordPress!  Curious about how to do this yourself with your website?  P3C can help you establish your own website blog with WordPress and integrate these social networking plugins so you can own your content and keep it in one spot that is yours…your blog.  Contact us to find out how!
